The collision took place on the A30 at Clyst Honiton at around 12.25am on Saturday, October 20.

It is believed that the Astra was travelling west on the east-bound carriageway when it was involved in a head-on collision with the Seat travelling in the opposite direction.

A 48-year-old female passenger in the Seat was taken to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Seat, aged 49, was taken to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital with serious injuries. Both are from Ottery St Mary

A police spokesperson said: "The condition of the woman who was seriously injured in this collision has improved a little and it is understood that she is expected to make a recovery, albeit slowly."

Collision investigators have made a further appeal for any witnesses who may have seen a silver Vauxhall Astra driving at around midnight on Saturday evening, Sunday morning on the A30 near to Exeter Airport.
