A young man died after a crash on a rural road as severe weather battered the region. The man, aged 26 from Hawill near Holsworthy, was pronounced dead at the scene after the incident on the A3079 at Beaworthy in Devon at 4.10pm yesterday. The crash happened three miles north of Halwill, between Holsworthy and Okehampton. Police said only one vehicle was involved. The road was closed as a result and diversions were put in place with drivers being urged to avoid the area if at all possible. Police were last night trying to contact the driver's next of kin.
