A dog warden has been appointed in a bid to clamp down on dog fouling in a West town. Tavistock Town and West Devon Borough Councils say the issue is a growing problem in some of the most beautiful parts of the community. From now on, a dog warden will patrol the town promoting responsible dog ownership. Enforcement action will be taken against persistent offenders.
Tavistock Mayor Anne Johnston said: "The town and Borough Councils are working together to try and improve this problem. It really is one that affects us all and we can all play our part to stop it."
Police Community Support Officers and Council monitoring officers can now serve fixed penalty notices on offenders, and a "report it" section has been set up on the borough council's website.
