Labour peer Baroness Ann Mallalieu, who strongly opposed her party's ban on hunting when they were in power, is this year's guest speaker at the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust's annual Devon dinner and auction.
The event will be held in the magnificent Corn Barn, at Cullompton, on Friday October 12, 2012.
As well as dinner, guests will be able to participate in the evening auction and silent auction, both of which have on offer a huge variety of intriguing lots ranging from carriage driving in Devon to hind stalking in Scotland. Guests will be able to enjoy the thrills and spills of team skittles.
The Baroness Ann Mallalieu – a member of the Exmoor Hunt and the Devon and Somerset Staghounds – promises to provide a fascinating and entertaining after-dinner speech, which will reflect her enthusiasm and passion for the countryside, horses and sheep farming.
Tim Hinder, who chairs the GWCT's Devon Committee said: "We are thrilled that Baroness Mallalieu has agreed to provide the after-dinner speech. She is hugely popular and has led an extremely active and varied life in politics and her passion for the countryside never fails to entertain, amuse and inspire. We are looking forward to a lively and successful evening and crucially raising important funds for the GWCT – one of our leading wildlife research charities."
