The crew of the Torbay lifeboat are dealing with a major incident at sea tonight (Sun) after an ocean going tug and a barge it was towing collided in the English Channel.

The tug was holed in the collision and is reportedly taking in water. Members of the lifeboat crew are due to go aboard with pumps to bale it out.

It is not clear if anyone has been injured in the incident but there are plans to bring the vessels into Brixham harbour or, if that proves impossible, to beach them at Broadsands.
