Olympic medallist Tom Daley is diving into primetime TV with a new show.

The Splash! show on ITV will see celebrities competing against each other as they try to master the art of diving with the help of a team of professional coaches.

They will have to show off their new skills in front of a panel of judges and a live audience at a packed Olympic-size swimming pool before the public get their chance to vote for their favourite.

Daley, from Plymouth, who won bronze in the 10-metre individual men's platform diving at the summer Games, said: "2012 has been a wonderful year for me – an Olympic medal and double gold at the Junior World Champs. What better way to round it off by becoming involved in this great new show; a dream come true for me – an entertainment show all about diving. I can't wait to get started."

The idea is based on a hit Dutch show called Celebrity Splash!

I'm afraid that this is why he failed to get gold at the Olympics. He concentrates more on his celebrity status than he does his diving.
