A Cornish woman has won national recognition for her innovative designs of baby bibs and blankets.

Kate Wedlake from Porkellis near Helston has won silver and gold awards from parenting website Bizziebaby.co.uk, for her Cornish Daisy brand baby bibs.

The mum-of-four started making bibs to match the clothes she made for her daughter, four years ago.

Working from home, she fulfils orders for hundreds of bibs and blankets every week, which she runs up individually on her commercial sewing machine.

Products include Dribble Bibs, which won the Gold Bizzie Baby Award, while a feeding bib won Silver.

Cornish Daisy secured its first retail lead with St Ives and St Erth stores Fabulous Kids and its products are now stocked in 15 shops, with stockists as far away as Lancashire.

The bibs have also been endorsed by mums and dads via parenting blogs.

She said: "I hadn't wanted to start a business so early – at least not until my daughter started school.

"But the reviewers are absolutely loving the bibs."
