The "king of instruments" will take centre stage this week for a concert by one of Cornwall's most talented classical musicians.
For the latest in his Liskeard Concert Series, Jonathan Delbridge will deliver a varied programme of music on St Martin's Church organ.
It was Mozart who first described the organ as the "king of instruments" and the Lewis 3-manual instrument at St Martin's is widely regarded as one of the finest in Cornwall. On Thursday at 7.30pm, Jonathan will demonstrate the full range of colours available from the organ in a concert featuring a video camera, projector and screen to provide audience members with a good view of the console.
The concert will include Widor's Toccata from Symphony no 5, Elgar's Nimrod, Liszt's Prelude and Fugue on Bach and Jonathan's own Variations on Trelawny.
Jonathan's interest in music began at the age of just four when he started piano lessons with his mother at the family farm near Menheniot. He now has a busy career as a freelance soloist, choir director and teacher of piano and organ. He has performed at venues throughout the UK, including the Royal Albert Hall, York Minster, Norwich Cathedral and the Hall for Cornwall.
He is known for presenting exciting and varied programmes which include major classical works, jazz standards and his own improvisations. He enjoys interacting with the audience, giving background information on the music being performed injected with humour.
Advance tickets for August 22 concert are priced £7 and available from Liskeard Information Centre or by calling 01579 349148. Tickets on the door are £8, with under-18s free. For more information visit liskeard concertseries.btck.co.uk
Classical music is also on offer this week as part of Harmoniemusik's annual visit to St Columb Festival, which was launched in the early 1970s by Cornish-born Richard Cooke.
Since 1992, Harmoniemusik has promoted the annual celebration of outstanding chamber music in the beautiful surroundings of the parish church. This year's programme, which runs throughout the week, will feature work by J S Bach, Mozart, Dvorak, Schubert, Janacek and Poulenc.
Tickets are available from Hall for Cornwall on 01872 262466.
