A selection of about 20 Lladro figures, including an amusing figure of a clown lying down and with his leg supported by a beach ball, is among items offered by Eldreds of Plymouth at Roborough on Tuesday.

There are numerous more usual examples depicting young girls with geese, estimated at £20-£30, and another showing a young girl wearing a headscarf with a hare standing on its hind legs, expecting £40-£60.

While brown furniture is still difficult to sell, pine seems to have maintained a ready market. A rectangular chest measuring 96cm has white porcelain handles on turned legs (estimate £100-£150), and a pair of bedside cabinets each having two small drawers and a cupboard door on plinth base should fit in to any size bedroom at just 37cm wide, estimate £80-£120.

The Art Nouveau period and its decorations are always popular and Wade unglazed figures of stylish young women have always been in demand. This sale has just such a figure, entitled Christina.3 – the young woman is holding a leaping greyhound by its collar. It expects £60-£80.

From a similar period comes a Carlton Ware chamber stick, decorated with leaves and orange fruit, having a loop handle, £20-£40, while a Beswick model of a racing pigeon expects £30-£50.

Last-minute Christmas present opportunities include an attractive yellow metal rope-twist necklace with garnet-mounted oval slider £300-£500, while an 18ct gold ruby and diamond half-eternity ring set with alternate stones expects £150-£200. A large collection of Caithness, Baccarat and other glass paperweights, carry estimates from £30-£50.

Rather a poignant reminder of the First World War is a coloured lithograph depicting British soldiers with the banner reading A Happy Christmas, carrying an estimate of £20-£30.

Eldreds of Plymouth, 1 Belliver Way, Roborough, Plymouth, PL6 7BP, Tuesday, December 18, 11am.
