A car overturned on a busy Plymouth road yesterday following a three-vehicle smash.

The silver car came to rest on its roof on a stretch of the A386, Tavistock Road, in Crownhill.

Police warned of delays in the area for motorists.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to reports were no serious injuries.

The incident happened near The Tamar public house and Crownhill Police Station.

Three ambulances were called to the scene but it is understood all the occupants of the overturned car managed to escape unaided.

The other two vehicles did not appear to be seriously damaged, one witness said.

The incident is thought to have happened at around 8.45pm.

One lane of traffic remained open along the stretch as emergency services continue to work at the scene.

sasquatch1 - you can very easily replace "one 17 year old chav, one heavy right foot" with "one grey haired driver" - it is just as likely to be accurate, and judging by the car - more realistic.

Amazing video; made me feel like I was there! How on earth do you flip a vehicle on its roof on a straight 40mph road?!?!

Hmm looks like a Mitsubishi Space Star, if so doesn't fit in with the normal yoof car profile.

@ sasquatch 1 - a bit presumptuous aren't we or is it a case of because a car overturned a young driver must be involved/ to blame. I drive along this stretch of road daily and see drivers of ALL ages do silly things and usually it's the OLDER generation too. I have lost count of the number of drivers who come down the nearside lane to go into Crownhill village and then carry on down the BUS LANE towards Manadon having near misses trying to get in the correct lane they should have been in the first place. Well done to the Emergency services for having the road cleared quickly, I drove along this road just after 10.30 p.m. and had no idea of a collision until now.

Not that I have ever attempted to turn my car over onto its roof whilst driving, but how do you do it? What equipment would I require?
