Updated: Bungalow ablaze at Manwood in Manaton

Four fire fighting appliances from Morton Hampstead, Bovey Tracey, Chagford and Ashburton were sent to bungalow on fire at Manwood in Manaton on Sunday morning.

Upon arrival, they found a bungalow with a slate roof which was well alight.

Crews started to extinguish the fire with one hose reel jet and one main jet and sent for a further water bowser from Torquay Fire Station.

At 10:51 crews were using three main jets and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

At 11:39 crews have stated its a house with two storeys of wooden

construction approximately 20 metres by 20 metres severely damaged by

fire. Crews are currently using four main jets, two hose reel jets and

four breathing apparatus for salvage work. Fire investigation has been

requested and western power to isolate the electrics.
