Broadband contract signing is delayed

An announcement about a £100 million programme to bring superfast broadband to Devon and Somerset has been delayed because of contractual issues.

BT was chosen to deliver the upgrade in October with a formal contract signing event due to take place on Monday. But this was postponed, with a spokeswoman for the Connecting Devon and Somerset initiative saying: "The programme team and BT have been unable to reach agreement on some significant issues. Until these can be resolved, the team is unwilling to enter into a binding contract."
