Plymouth Devils' chairman Mike Bowden has threatened to bulldoze St Boniface Arena over rumours his speedway licence has been revoked.

Supporters' online forums allege that Bowden's licence was revoked either during or after a meeting of the British Speedway Promoters' Association last Tuesday.

Association members were meeting to discuss their plans for their annual meeting, scheduled for next month.

Chairman Alex Harkness has made it clear that the pre-annual meeting did not have the authority to revoke anyone's licence.

A four-man consortium is in the middle of negotiations to buy the Premier League outfit, who are based at St Boniface Arena, Marsh Mills.

Bowden said: "Allegations that my licence has been revoked are totally untrue, whatever people on these forums think.

"There have been allegations made against me and my family which are spiteful and, I believe, libellous. These comments are damaging my business by suggesting my licence has been revoked.

"I have to say that if these sort of people continue to offend me and make remarks which are untrue, I will bulldoze the circuit and see how they like that. I am serious – I am sick of all these comments being made."
