BARNSTAPLE TOWN battled for a goalless draw at Willand Rovers in the Toolstation Western League last night.
Barum, with centre backs Jack Furzer, Liam Dart and Ian Wheatley in excellent form, defended superbly for their first clean sheet of the season.
Despite having the majority of possession, Willand were blunt in attack and wasted their best chance when Stan Paxton shot wide against his former club. The visitors were bright on the counter-attack with Mitch Cisneros and Jamie Micklewright denied by saves from Ryan Draper. However, the point gained was not enough to move Barnstaple off the bottom of the premier division.
They travel to Bristol Manor Farm on Saturday hoping to end a run of eight games without a win.
