Local photographer John MacGregor came across an unusual ornithological sighting on the beach in Devon.
Crows are sometimes spotted looking for carrion at the water’s edge but this bird was on holiday with a couple from Gloucestershire who were visiting Goodrington, Paignton.
The crow, snowy white all over – a true albino – had been ejected from a nest in their garden last year.
The couple have hand reared it and it now lives in their house, roosting on top of a wardrobe. It has a harness attached when it is taken out and the handler wears a gauntlet rather like a falconer. It’s name is Polaris or Po for short.
