2.5 tonnes of rubbish removed from fair

Street cleaners were out in force to tackle the remains of Tavistock's Goose Fair. West Devon Borough Council said a team of its cleaners worked overnight to clear up almost two and a half tonnes of rubbish following the festivities on Wednesday. The cleaners moved in early Thursday morning as the rain lashed down.A spokesman for the council said the team of 26 street cleaners and council officers set to work in the early hours of Thursday morning, taking just five hours to remove rubbish from the streets, park and residential gardens in the centre of town.
